Except for mood-swings now & again, Aphrodite is mostly OK with her job & with the idea of giving pleasure to others for fun & profit---and has been OK about that for quite some time. (She admits to a couple of years of work experience as Goddess of Love at her present job, even though she occasionally costumes herself in diaphanous Greek garb so as to suggest that she's been pursuing her career for a couple of thousand years or more). But occasionally the young woman's love of dance--& particularly an as-yet unrealized ambition to dance with a ballet company--come crashing through & make her blue. Aphrodite expresses herself simply & straightforwardly & without putting on airs--but just like the rest of us of course, Chathostesses also have complex inner lives & experience yearnings to transcend everyday realities--the everyday fantasies of other people, too. Staging note: This is one of the central songs of the work. Aphrodite, having turned off her webcam after her daily 8-hour shift is over, & having put her chatoom accoutrements etc., in a carryall bag, is waxing reflective after a particularly long, tiring & trying day. The chorus of this Song Lyric about a blue mood is not sung by Aphrodite--but intoned Greek Chorus-style by for example fellow Chathostesses who also work at the suite of chatroom studios where Aphrodite broadcasts from--and who, like Aphrodite, have certain aspirations beyond the "worksite." Alternate Idea: Since, at the close of this song, Aphrodite addresses chatroom-visitors, have them intone the Chorusses.
[ APHRODITE'S NIGHT SONG ]
AND EVERY DAY PEOPLE DIE FROM LACK OF LOVE
Everyday maybe just like you I get up &
have a cup of coffee
Think a hasty thought or two, then get on with the
day
And every day people die from lack of
love
I feed my cat, pick out a sexy outfit for the night
& Put it into my little black leather carryall bag
& then I carry that costume around with me all day
It's there with me even when I go to the ballet lessons I really
love
Aphrodite Whispers:
Oh how I love my ballet lessons, my ballet lessons
And on some days I take it with me to a modeling job
or two--anyway
The important thing's my little black carryall bag for my main job
So I always try to remember not to leave it anyplace by accident
& So far I've never left it yet
And every day people die from lack of
love
In other words just like for you it's this & that,
& that & this for me
& PS several jerks a day trying to romance their way into my pants
--The important thing's the carryall bag with the sexy outfit in it for my
main job
So I always remember not to leave it anyplace by accident
Not even at the school where I take my ballet lessons, my ballet lessons
& So far I've never left it yet
And every day people die from lack of
love
And every day people die from
lack of love
So just like for you all day long it's this &
that, & that & this for me
& Then it's almost 5 o'clock & nearly time to really get to work
& If there's time Aphrodite checks her e-mail soon as she gets to the
chatroom studio
To see who's trying to romance their way into her pants that way too
And whether it can be turned into an extra buck or two
And whether it can be turned into an extra buck or two
And every day people die
from lack of love
And every day people die from lack of
love
& Just like you, I always try to get to work on
time
And if I'm late some days even though the webcam's always already on
I get out of my street-chothes & undress real fast and quickly change
into my costume
& Start chatting with my guests & I begin then to
perform...
And every day people die
from lack of love
And every day people die from lack of
love
& Except for minor variations things pretty much
go on that way
The biz-week flies by like that until it's Friday
And every day people die
from lack of love
And every day people die from lack of
love
I sometimes wish that some God on high or other would
help me
Get out of these routines
And give me strength to help me carry on this way
(Aphrodite whispers):
Thor, Tekkie, Dolphin, Heavy-d, &
DaisymaidUK
Do you sometimes think of Aphrodite Goddess of Love
when I'm in my chatroom but you're away
Or are you too dying from lack of love?
Or are you too dying from lack of love
